My formal education began at Iona College, Lindum, within close proximity to my family home in Belmont, east of Brisbane. In advancing my education, I focussed on becoming a physiotherapist and in 1985, obtained my Bachelor of Physiotherapy, at the University of Queensland, prior to completing my Masters in Sports Physiotherapy in 1999, at Griffith University.
As a young professional, I decided to relocate to Wellington Point, within the Redlands district, to raise my family with unrestricted access to quality local education, in what I consider to be one of the safest, friendliest and most welcoming locations within South East Queensland.
1990, after establishing a physiotherapy business in Cleveland, I proudly employed local staff, to aid in the treatment of over 15,000 local residents, across the span of 25 years. 2015, as a businessman, health practitioner and experienced communicator, I decided to seek a new challenge, one that would help my community in a different way and successfully ran for office in local government, as a division two councillor, representing the people of Cleveland and North Stradbroke Island.
2020, as I am nearing the end of my first term with the Redland City Council, I take solace in knowing that I have done my very level best, accomplished much and will forever hold the people of Redland City in the highest of regard.
I consider myself worldly, as I have travelled extensively throughout North America, Asia, Africa and Europe, offering a relevant perspective of just how lucky we are to live, work and play on the Redlands Coast.
I am passionate about health and wellbeing, in a personal and professional sense, an enthusiastic sportsman of rugby league, touch football, marathons, the Ironman triathlon, kite-surfing and a very keen cyclist, that still actively participates in triathlons.
My wife Jane and I, currently live in Cleveland and as parents to four children and grand‑parents to two grand‑children, we appreciate the unique challenges facing families and the importance of community. I regularly volunteer, sponsor and serve on many committees, in support of local events and organisations that include Redfest, Redland Chamber of Commerce, Sharks triathlon, Cleveland placemakers…
I firmly believe that actions speak louder than words and I encourage us all to play a positive and active role within the community, as shared individual responsibilities will always unearth solutions and never cause blame. I believe that a strong community is inclusive and tolerant, respectful of the rights and opinions of every individual and the bilateral responsibilities that face us all.
This coming election, I encourage you to vote in my favour, as I sincerely believe that I am the best candidate, I am consistently active within the community, have integrity and will always put your family first.
